Kelly Clarkson has shared the first picture of her daughter River Rose.

The songstress uploaded the professionally-shot photo to her Instagram.

The proud mum captioned the snap: "Here is our beautiful baby girl River Rose. 6lbs 6oz, 18 inches, and the greatest thing on the planet."

The American Idol winner gave birth last Thursday (12 June).

She shared with fans on Twitter that she and husband Brandon Blackstock were on "cloud 9" following their new arrival.

The singer had been candid about her struggles during her pregnancy,admitting in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that she suffered extreme morning sickness.

"I vomit a good dozen times a day," she revealed to the chat show host last December.

"I'm not even kidding, it's so so bad. It's so bad. I know it's like so gross. And that's the thing, too - you're not attractive when you're pregnant."

Kelly was reportedly planning to release her sixth studio album before she discovered she was pregnant last year.

Producer Jesse Shatkin revealed that he had been in the studio with the singer, and that the material they had recorded was "a little left-of-centre and cool" compared with her previous records.
