As Kendall Bags Her Own Column, We’re Asking: Is Model Slash Journo The New Big Thing?

An iPod and a side career in DJing used to be a model’s best friend, but now it’s a laptop and a magazine gig…

Kendall Jenner has been announced as a featured columnist in WSJ. Magazine's February issue, giving her views on all things youth, growing up and her father Bruce Jenner.

[related] “I feel like I grew up too fast a long time ago,” says Kendall. “Having older siblings, you grow up around adults, so you mature more quickly. I saw my sisters and parents working every day, so I was pretty much brought up to be a workaholic. But I just turned 19 a couple weeks ago, and I’m scared to be 20—it’s the first step out of being a teenager."

Imagining her Olympian dad Bruce as a teenager, the model cracks up and says, "I just laugh thinking about my dad being a teenager, partying. It’s the funniest thing. And it makes me think—what am I going to be like when I’m 65?”

Possibly as well preserved as Momager Kris Jenner.

As for her famous siblings? "My sister Khloé always says to me and my younger sister, Kylie: You have your whole life to be an adult but only so long to be a kid. And we get it. In the right situations, I try to be as immature as I can sometimes—react to things as if I were 12. You can’t take things too seriously."

We couldn’t agree more, Kendall.

While the Estée Lauder campaign star joins Goldie Hawn, celebrity dermatologist Dr. Frederic Brandt, footballer Tim Howard, psychologist Jeffrey Jensen Arnett and illustrator Maira Kalman on the WSJ. panel, we’re *slightly* more interested in the current trend for models turning journo.

Kendall’s model buddy Cara Delevingne has guest edited Love magazine’s Spring/Summer 2015 issueand accepted a role as contributing editor. Kate Moss is British Vogue’s contributing fashion editor, while Alexa Chung is a contributing editor at the title.

Models, it’s time to put your iPods away; ‘slash DJ’ is so 2014. It’s all about the ‘slash journo’.

The February issue of WSJ. Magazine, featuring Kendall’s column, hits newsstands on January 24th.
