London Fashion Week Goes Wild For Kendall Jenner – Was This Topshop’s Best Front Row Ever?
It seems nobody is immune to the magic of Miss Jenner…
With a front row made up of Emily Ratajkowski, Jourdan Dunn, Alexa Chung and Ellie Goulding, you’d think journos and photographers alike would be spread thin at Topshop Unique… but everyone wanted a piece of Kendall Jenner. Together with best friend Cara Delevingne – who was last to arrive for the London Fashion Week show – the model and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was mobbed before and after the show by just about everyone in the building.
Arriving on time, shortly after singer Jessie Ware, Kendall took her seat and was quickly approached with iPhones, notebooks, dictaphones; everyone knowing the power a Jenner quote or photo could have for their website, magazine, blog, or Instagram feed.
Dressed in a white crop top and high-waisted powder blue trousers, a camel coat perched over her shoulders, the 19-year-old looked every inch a supermodel. Cara slipped in beside Kendall in an unusually (for her) girlie look: a white frilled blouse, black leather pencil skirt and barely there black sandals. Of course, there was a Queen D twist, her hair pulled back in a side ponytail showing off her partly-shaved head.
Separated only by Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, Cara’s fellow ‘DD’, Jourdan Dunn, worked double leather in a tiny pair of shorts and matching biker jacket.
The ‘main’ front row completed by Pixie Geldof, Daisy Lowe, Vashtie, Snoh Aalegra, Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor, Harley Viera Newton and British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, there was a second row of famous faces directly across the runway, including Erin O’Connor, Pixie Lott, Jess Glynne, Paloma Faith, Amber and Yasmin Le Bon.
Topshop Unique AW15 Front Row
With everyone in their seats, it was time to begin the AW15 show, kicking off with English country girls in cosy layers. Wool parkas came with grey faux fur trims, pinafore dresses worn over cable knit sweaters and winter floral print dresses made weather-appropriate with fur coats thrown on top.
Picking up pace, we were led through what we like to think of as the ‘showerproof’ section of the show: high shine coats, mini skirts and even trouers, in shades of cream and teal. The models were natural beauties, with undone wavy hair and flawless skin, offset with ruddy cheeks like they had just come in from the cold.
Then came the final segment, made up of glitzy party pieces, dandelion printed dresses and fluffy trims aplenty. The show stealer? Malaika Firth in a black long-sleeved leather dress, with shaggy fur cuffs, strutting like she owned the runway – and she did.
Only the finale walk to ‘The Whole Of The Moon’ by The Waterboys could compete with Malaika’s moment, as Kendall and Cara made their escape into the rainy London day, leading the pack as always.
I might get a little drunk
I say what's on my mind
I might do a little time
'Cause all of my kindness
Is taken for weakness
Now I'm four, five seconds from wildin'
And we got three more days 'til Friday
I'm just tryna make it back home by Monday mornin'
I swear I wish somebody would tell me
Ooh, that's all I want
Woke up an optimist
Sun was shinin', I'm positive (We can run)
Then I heard you were talkin' trash (I'm on a mystery)
Hold me back, I'm bout' to spaz
Yeah, 'bout four, five seconds from wildin'
And we got three more days 'til Friday
I'm tryna make it back home by Monday mornin'
I swear I wish somebody would try me
Ooh, that's all I want
And I know that you're up tonight
Thinkin' how could I be so selfish
But you called 'bout a thousand times
Wondering where I've been
Now I know that you're up tonight
Thinkin' how could I be so reckless
But I just can't apologize
I hope you can understand, yeah
If I go to jail tonight
Promise you'll pay my bail
See they want to buy my pride
But that just ain't up for sale
See, all of my kindness, (mhm)
Is taken for weakness
Now I'm four, five seconds from wildin'
And we got three more days 'til Friday
I'm just tryna make it back home by Monday mornin'
I swear I wish somebody would tell me
Ooh, that's all I want
Four, five seconds from wildin'
And we got three more days 'til Friday
Just tryna make it back home by Monday mornin'
I swear I wish somebody would tell me
'Cause that's all I want
