Kendrick Lamar Claims His First UK No 1 Album

As Sam Smith and John Legend stay at top of singles chart...

Kendrick Lamar has gone straight in at the top of the Official UK Albums Chart with his new LP To Pimp A Butterfly.

The US rapper knocked Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour down to No 2, while Mark Knopfler had a new entry at no 3 with Tracker and Ed Sheeran's X slipped one spot to No 4.

Van Morrison's Duets: Reworking The Catalogue rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile Sam Smith managed to hang on at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart - where Lay Me Down (ft. John Legend) spent its second week ruling the roost.

Years & Years' King was a non-mover at No 2 and FourFiveSeconds by Kanye West, Rihanna & Paul McCartney rose two places to No 3.

James Bay was at No 4 with Hold Back The River and Ellie Goulding slipped one place to No 5 with Love Me Like You Do.
