Kendrick Lamar Talks Macklemore Grammy Text: "What's Done Is Done"

The rapper is over the whole Instagram shenanigans and looking forward to his new album...

Kendrick Lamar had a huge year in 2012 with his highly anticipated album good kid, m.A.A.d city selling over 240,000 copies in it's first week. Oh and then going platinum.

But it wasn't to be at The Grammy Awardsas the rapper lost out to Macklemore in four of the categories he was nominated in, who then sent a very public text to Lamar.

'You got robbed. I wanted you to win. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you. Iwas gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and as a friend. Much love,' the message said.

In Kendrick Lamar's Complex cover story he addresses the infamous text message without a flicker of fuss.

"He probably didn’t need to Instagram the text. But what’s done is done."

The rapper also discusses how he once received $400,000 for a verse, and whether or not his stories have the power to determine greatness.

“I got a greater purpose,” he says. “God put something in my heart to get across and that’s what I’m going to focus on, using my voice as an instrument and doing what needs to be done.”
