Celebrities Show Their Support For Kesha After Court Ruling
Many celebrities have been showing their support for Kesha, after a judge yesterday (Friday 19th February) denied her an injunction.
Kesha cried as the New York Supreme Court denied her plea to get out of her contract with Dr Luke, who she claims drugged her and 'sexually, verbally, physically and emotionally' abused her.Sony Music has agreed to let her record with another producer, although her lawyer, Mark Geragos, says they’re ‘setting her up to fail’, according to BuzzFeed.
#FreeKesha quickly trended on Twitter after the news broke, with many, many social media users, including a load of celebrities, showing their support for the singer during this tough time.
Halsey tweeted her disgust for the judge’s decision, writing: “Disgusted by anyone in power positions abusing their authority. My heart breaks for Kesha and all people affected by this toxicity. F**k.”
She also dedicated ‘Hold Me Down’ to Kesha during her concert in Glasgow.
Tyler Oakley also shared his thoughts on Twitter, writing simply: "i support @kesharose. #freekesha".
JoJo shared a photo of Kesha crying in the courtroom, saying the images from the day had broken her heart. Speaking as someone who's been through her own court case, she added: "I felt very alone when I was going through my lawsuit. It was my fans who kept me going. The #freejojo campaign meant everything to me."
Iggy Azalea added her support too, tweeting: "Im not accusing anyone of anything, but i believe Kesha deserves the ability to move forward, create and earn a living."
Musician and producer Jack Antonoff summed it all up with just two words: “FREE KESHA”.
