Jim Carrey Withdraws Kick-Ass 2 Support
Star says he's had second thoughts about movie after school shootings...
The Hollywood star - playing Colonel Stars And Stripes in the tongue-in-cheek comic book sequel - has explained his decision via Twitter.
He wrote: "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.
"I meant to say my apologies to others involve [sic] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."
Universal Pictures had not commented on Carrey's decision at the time of going to press.
The eagerly awaited movie is due for release in the UK on August 14.
Writer Mark Millar recently revealed that Kick-Ass 3 would only happen if the second movie is a box office hit.
