Kim Kardashian has sparked a minor mystery by sharing snaps of herself with what appear to be blonde highlights.

The US reality TV queen took to Instagram to post a picture of herself seemingly getting her hair done - surrounded by what appear to be hair treatment products.

And she appeared to credit hairstylist Serge Normant, writing: "It's baaaaack!!!! #BlondeHairDontCare thanks to @SergeNormant"

But shortly afterwards she threw the cat among the pigeons by "revealing" that her "new look" was a hoax.

Posting a closer-up shot, she wrote: "It's just a wig! Looks so real though right?"

And then she left us hanging by posting another pic and writing: "Night!!! #ILooKLIkeATotallyDifferentPersonWhenMyHairIsBlonde"
