Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash After Taking Part In Jackie O Inspired Photoshoot
The response on social-media hasn't been ~overwhelmingly~ positive.
Kim Kardashian has had a mixed response from fans after taking part in a photoshoot where she channels former First Lady and American icon, Jackie Kennedy.
The 36-year-old put on her best pearls for the September issue of Interview magazine, but the concept didn't go down too well on social-media. While some thought it was an interesting metaphor, many more branded the spread "a disgrace".
Did you miss the MTV VMAs? Here's everything that went down condensed into 120 seconds...
"You could NEVER BE the great, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. NEVER!" one person responded, while another issued the pretty blunt statement: "Jackie O turning over in her damn grave right now."
The criticism didn't stop there, with others pointing out that Kim's skin tone appears to be much darker in the images than IRL. "Since when did Kim and North have the same skin color?" one user argued, as another added: "The only thing bothering me about Kim's Jackie O inspired shoot is how much bronzer they put on her."
The introduction to the piece outlined the inspiration behind the shoot: "For her debut appearance on the cover of a magazine with her daughter North, Kim Kardashian West channels another mother whose every move captivated the American imagination: First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis."
Still, a bunch of people leapt to Kim's defense and argued that the photoshoot is actually a clever metaphor about both Kim and Jackie's respective popularity. "I am concerned because people saw that picture of Kim and think she actually believes she's Jackie O. It's...a metaphor."
Looks like this one has divided the internet. What do you make of it? Let us know with a tweet @MTVUK.
