Kim Kardashian Immortalized in Warhol Style Portrait
Panting was a gift from baby daddy Kanye West...
We suspect there might be a painting-shaped package under Kim Kardashian’s 'khristmas' tree this year since it’s been revealed that Kanye West commissioned Andy Warhol’s niece Monica to paint a portrait of Kim.
The pink and orange pop art painting is similar in style to the legendary artist’s work. “It’s a special gift,” creator Monica Warhol told In Touch magazine. “I am picking up where Andy left off, and Kim is the perfect addition to the Warhol legacy.”
The mixed-media piece was created by fusing hand drawn pencil work with Photoshop computer wizardry. Monica then printed the portrait and burnt it onto silk before finishing off with some hand-painted touches. The famous artist’s niece has previously created portraits for stars including Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz and Flo Rida.
“There is no way Andy Warhol would not have painted her. Kim is manufactured gorgeous and is beyond fabulous,” Monica added. “How could Andy not have been inspired to paint her like he did Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor?”
Warhol – who coined the phrase ’15 minutes of fame’ – would also undoubtedly have approved of the reality TV star’s family Christmas card. It features the Kardashian clan in glamorous poses surrounded by televisions, magazines and the word ‘fame’ repeatedly graffitied onto the walls.
