Kings Of Leon Cancel Gig, Admit ‘Internal Issues’
‘We’ve got big problems,’ says Jared Followill after Caleb walks offstage…
Kings Of Leon cancelled a gig in Houston last night, 30 July, just one night after Caleb Followill walked offstage in the middle of a show and refused to continue.
The band was performing in Dallas when Caleb complained of heat exhaustion. Video footage posted online showed the frontman telling the crowd he was going to get a drink and would be back for three more songs, which never happened.
"My voice is completely 100 per cent wrong, I'm sorry,” he told the audience. “Do you know what? I'm going to drink some beer and I'm going to drink some tequila and I'm going to have a good time, and for the record I'm not drunk, I'm just f**king hot... I'm gonna go backstage for a second. I'm gonna vomit, I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out here and I'm gonna play three more songs."
Bassist Jared Followill was left to apologise to the crowd when it was clear Caleb wouldn’t be returning. "We are so unbelievably sorry, there's no words right now, honestly it's beyond our control,” he told the crowd. “Caleb's just maybe a little unfit to play the rest of the show.”
He also apologised via Twitter: "Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words."
Since then, the Use Somebody rockers cancelled a gig in Houston and Jared again took to his Twitter page to reveal internal issues within Kings Of Leon. “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren't stupid. I can't lie,” he wrote. “There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”
