Glastonbury, It’s A No: Kings Of Leon To Play UK Festival Exclusive Show At BST Hyde Park 2017
Kings of Leon will not be headlining Glastonbury 2017, with the Followill clan making their only UK festival appearance next July, at BST Hyde Park next year.
Pixies and Nathaniel Rateliff will support the band on Thursday 6th July, with the general sale taking place at 9am on Wednesday 30th November.
Kings of Leon had been rumoured to be headlining the festival next year after the group’s drummer, Nathan Followill, spoke about how keen the band were to return to Glastonbury eight years since they last headlined:
“We love Glastonbury. I think that was the first festival we ever played in Europe. Do they still do it where it's on one year, off one year to let the grass grow?”
When Nathan was told that the festival will be on in 2017, but will be taking a break the following year, he said: “OK, then we'll have to get on it in 2017. I'll have to text Mr Eavis.”
The Glastonbury rumour mill is a relentless, all-consuming hype machine that spits out pretty much every major name in music. Lady Gaga. Bruno Mars. Kings of Leon. Everyone else who plays music. They’ve all been rumoured to play the world’s most famous music festival next year. We should know better, but, year after year, it’s difficult to not get swept by the waves of hysteria. Why? Because every person has their dream headliner, and Glastonbury is one of those festivals that could actually make those thoughts, images and sensations that swirl around your head at night come true.
