Kit Harrington Wants A Gay Marvel Character
The Game of Thrones star has slammed the lack of diversity in superhero movies.
Kit Harrington has spoken out about the lack of gay actors in Marvel movies, calling out a perceived taboo in the action/superhero genre. The star was speaking to Variety at the Toronto Film Festival, when he took the opportunity to flag up the issue.
“There's a big problem with masculinity and homosexuality that they can't somehow go hand in hand,” said Harrington. “That we can't have someone in a Marvel movie who's gay in real life and plays some super hero. I mean, when is that going to happen?”
The studio recently came under fire for brushing the bisexuality of characters Valkyrie and Korg under the carpet, but Kevin Feige has gone on record to say there are LGBTQ+ characters in the MCU. “Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen,” insisted the studio boss, when grilled on the issue earlier this year.
Hopefully we’ll get a little bit more time with Korg and Valkyrie, and their respective personal lives, when they make their next on-screen appearances…
