Klaxons: "We Want to Make R&B"

The indie ravers tell us Dr Dre is on their wish list and hint at a US record deal...

Klaxons have told MTV News they want to make a hip hop record and would love to work with Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

Talking about the recent crop of urban/indie collaborations - which has seen Chris Martin hook up with Jay-Z and Arctic Monkeys linked to Dizzee Rascal - singer James said, "I think it's exciting that white boys can work with big R&B producers.

"Its weird that its a new phenomenon. I couldnt work out why it has never happened before, what with the melodies of (indie) blending so well with beats - now its like the thing to do."

He added, "We would very much like to make an R&B record. If we could afford it."

Bassist Jamie Reynolds added "The most interesting thing for us would be to work with Dr.Dre or Snoop Dogg. We havent done a record deal in America but we got to a point a couple of weeks ago where we were talking about one - and I dont know whether or not it's gonna happen.

"But if we did do that deal we would probably jeopardise our future working with Dr.Dre."

The boys wouldn't go into further detail, but in the meantime you could say they've been getting into R&B practise with a little help from their mates, the Arctics.

Jamie revealed Alex Turner's 21st birthday party threw up a shared love of Craig David!

"I realised their drummer (Matt Helders) and I could recite all the lyrics to Craig Davids two biggest hits. We shared a common love of two-step garage."

Wonder if he wants a rewind on that?
