Klaxons Win Mercury Prize
MTV News | We see the trio bag album of the year at the ceremony and Amy Winehouse perform.
Klaxons have won the Nationwide Mercury Prize for Album Of The Year for their Myths Of The Near Future record.
The trio appeared on stage to collect the award in a rather drunk state though Jamie could just about say: The Mercurys are about pushing music forward and we believe thats what we did!
Earlier Amy Winehouse performed a spine-tingling Love Is A Losing Game without forgetting the words or throwing up.
The singer was back from the Caribbean with only an acoustic guitar accompaniment and got the biggest cheer of the night.
Klaxons- who themselves performed Golden Skans- said they were not surprised they beat Amy. "Her record is a retro record," said Jamie "ours is forward-thinking."
The band earlier told MTV News that they would be giving away the 20K prize money.
Dizzee Rascal, New Young Pony Club and The View also played live at the event in London. The only nominated act not to show up were last years winners Arctic Monkeys.
