Our Brand New For 2015 winners describe the mad scramble before they took to the stage with Yeezy and tell us he's actually a really sound guy...
We caught up with the pair recently for an exclusive chat who recalled getting a bunch of cryptic calls from pal Skepta about finding some black tracksutis and hot-tailing it to The O2 Arena in an hour plus they weigh in on the critics blasting Yeezy for treating UK Grime scene stars as so-called 'backing dancers'.
Konan said: "For one, no-one was doing routines and back up dancing...if Tinie phoned us and said 'come out' we'd have went on stage. Why wouldn't you go on stage at the BRITs?
"Like, we are not at the BRITs so the only way we've been invited to the BRITs is via Kanye West do you know what I mean? That's like some sick way to first attend the BRITs 'cause of Kanye so why would you not?!"
"They never said 'come up here, dance and do routines and make a fool of yourself', they just said come vibe with me, like, I want to capture the moment and the feeling of what the record is and that exactly what it did. It wasn't unnatural, everyone was doing what they'd do if the song actually played…"
Earlier this week the 'Don't Waste My Time' duo released their debut album The Long Way Home for pre-order which shot straight to No.2 on iTunes just behind Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.
The LP features collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Wiz Khalifa, Skepta, Jeremih and even Konan's very own mum.
We can't wait to get our hands on it!
