Kristen Stewart has spoken about her role in new movie Clouds Of Sils Maria, revealing the role sees her working out of her comfort zone.

The actress - who shot to fame playing Bella in Twilight - told press at the New York Film Festival: "I've always really gravitated toward filmmakers that somewhat, even if they're not European, kind of represent something that's a little bit more common when you go over there to make a movie.

"There is something languid and fluid and natural and brave about it without nailing down exactly what you're gonna do you jump in and know that the experience is what you want and the result is gonna be whatever it's gonna be. So it's a huge risk to take."

Speaking of what it was like to work with K-Stew, Assayas gushed: "You know, it's something that you have to ask Kristen because I think it's so incredibly courageous of her.

"She's the one who's making the big step. I write the spot, which is really tailored for her in many ways, so I ask her to be part of my film."

Clouds Of Sils Maria is currently on the festival circuit and will be released in the US sometime in 2015.
