13 Reasons Lady Gaga Is Queen

HAPPY BDAY JOANNE.

Ok no biggie but it’s LADY GAGA’S BDAY TODAY.

Gaga/ Joanne has just turned the big 3-1and we think we owe all you Monsters out there a bday tribute. So here it is – here’s 13 reasons Lady Gaga is Queen.

1. She’s fo’ real

Ok, first and foremost, there’s a reason Lady Gaga has been championing the charts since her first smash 'Just Dance' in 2008. 'Poker Face, Born This Way, Bad Romance, Telephone, Love Game, Alejandro'… all these songs swooped straight into the Top 10 because they are powerful, entertaining and catchy AF. And the best part is she writes them all herself.

In fact she plays loads of instruments, she’s a producer as well as song writer, and she can sing classically. SHE’S THE REAL DEAL BRUH.

2. Her LGBTQ work

We’ve lost count of the amount of times Gaga has stood up for the LGBTQ community, and they make up a huge percentage of her fan base. Having been open about being bisexual since the beginning, Gaga has taken any and every chance to be an advocate and ambassador for LGBTQ rights and equality.

Like when she went to the 2009 National Equality March and she made a speech promising never to accept homophobia in music, lyrics or actions in the music industry, and that she’d always stick up for equality announcing, “Bless God and bless the gays.”

Everyone’s invited to the Gaga party

Gaga’s fans are called “Monsters” because she wants to be a voice for anyone who ever felt like an outsider, like she did growing up.

She’s ultra-inclusive and she is also unapologetically herself in all her Gaga uniqueness, encouraging her fans to embrace their own quirks too.

“I just will not be compared to anyone any more, I’m who the f**k I am,” she told Zane Lowe in a radio interview when he compared her to Madonna. You got that, Monsters?

She’s body positive

When the media criticised her for gaining weight in 2012, Lady Gaga then wore a massive, shapeless felt dress in Paris to make a statement about the media’s obsession with body size. I.e. she didn’t give a f**k.

Also, when people accused her of having a “pot belly” at the Super Bowl, she posted a message about it on Instagram saying she refusing to be phased, that she’s proud of her body, and preaching body positive messages to her followers.

She’s all about EVERY type of equality

It’s not just about LGBTQ equality for Gaga, though that’s what she’s often known for. Gaga is also a supporter of racial equality, supporting Black Lives Matter, and constantly seeks to empower women and shut down misogyny.

Her acts of kindness

Late last year Lady Gaga visited the Ali Forney Center in New York for LGBTQ homeless teens, and not only brought them gifts but sang to them and lead a meditation session.

The visit was broadcast on The Today Show, and on it Gaga revealed for the first time that she herself suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She said that her PTSD helped her to understand the trauma of others.

It was all part of a campaign to inspire one million acts of kindness, as she said that kindness not only benefits others but is healing. IT WAS BEAUT.

She has her own Foundation

Gaga is not all talk either – she co-founded the Born This Way Foundation which helps those going through Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

A lot of celebs do good just to be SEEN as a do-gooder, but not Gaga – she totally cares and takes ACTION where it’s needed.

She wrote a song for sexual assault victims

Case in point - Lady Gaga’s song 'Till It Happens To You' was all about victims of rape and sexual assault at college campuses, and a portion of the proceeds went to charities who help and support survivors.

The song and especially the shocking music video gave people more of an insight into what a victim goes through during and after the horrific ordeal.

She pulled off singing musical theatre at the Oscars

Who else could pull off singing a solo musical theatre medley on the stage at the Oscars?

Lady Gaga performed a whole medley of songs from the musical The Sound of Music at the 2015 award ceremony to celebrate the musical’s fiftieth anniversary… it was classy, classical, and she effing NAILED it.

Super Bowl

More recently though, Gaga did the Super Bowl…. And, yeah… nuff said.

She’s a guest judge on Drag Race

RuPaul’s Drag Race is back with a BANG, and the Season 9 premiere features Lady Gaga as one of the judges. The show is now more mainstream than ever, and Gaga had an emosh moment with the queens as she explained: "Drag for me has been an opportunity to leave myself when I didn’t want to be me and felt so completely out of place when I was in high school… It’s just really an honor for me to be here, to be with you."

She nearly crashed James Cordens’ car on TV

We just loved this whole thing. Yes, she’s a goddess, but we’re still not sure about her driving skills…

When she chatted with none other than the Dalai Lama on FacebookLive

Who else would go to meet the Dalai Lama and talk about peace and kindness on Facebook Live except Queen Gaga?

The Buddhist spiritual leader of the Tibetan people and symbol of peace and harmony to many around the worldgot on swimmingly with Gaga and together they talked about how kindness and compassion can give you purpose and meaning in life.

So there you have it – 13 reasons Lady Gaga is Queen and has done more in her time in the spotlight than probs any of us will ever get round to doing in, like, our lifetimes.

She’s constantly at the forefront of debates, voicing her support for any type of victim of oppression, and campaigning in any way she can for equality.

Happy bday bbygurl.
