Lady Gaga 'Makes £19m From Twitter'
Wall Street Journal claims social media brings in one-third of her income...
Lady Gagaearns an estimated £19m ($30m) as an indirect result of having the most popular feed on Twitter, it has been claimed.
Financial newspaper the Wall Street Journal has estimated that the pop star's contact with her 20 million "little monsters" on the social networking site makes her followers more likely to buy her music legally.
As well as Gaga's bond with her fans, the paper also took into account the publicity and free direct marketing potential that she gets from Twitter.
A marketing expert was quoted as saying: "[GaGa] really engages [her followers] and retweets stuff they say as if she was one of them."
She made history earlier this month when her follower count climbed above 20 million and it is now almost at 21 million - around two million higher than Justin Bieber's.
And Twitter is likely to become even more important to her, because she has announced that she is to stop speaking to the press after an interview with Oprah Winfrey is broadcast on March 18.
