Lady Gaga Reveals Flying Dress At ARTPOP Launch
Star flies through air inside warehouse as she takes fashion to next level...
She's previously appeared in a dress made of meat and more recently attended an event with a giant bag on her head, but Lady Gaga has modelled her most outlandish garment yet at the launch of her ARTPOP album.
Mother Monster revealed a flying dress to the world at the lavish launch event held in New York City last night - with the assembled crowd and fans watching via videolink seeing her lifted several feet into the air.
"Volantis is essentially a vehicle," Gaga told the crowd of the dress - a hovercraft-type vehicle with a curvy, female silhouette serving as the body piece.
"I wanted to make today about something even more important to me. And what that something is the youth of the world... Although she is a vehicle, she is essentially a metaphor for me.
"I will be a vehicle today for their voices... Youth all over the world."
After her initial speech, she stripped down to a black leotard with white sparkly boots and put on a helmet. She then tried out the spacey costume three times, hovering over the warehouse floor. After the last time, she got out, cheered and hugged the inventors.
"We realized her potential for the world," she explained. "Right now she's priceless. The money thing is really not me. What we're trying to say is, we can do anything. Imagine the possibilities."
Afterwards, everyone was escorted to a space filled with Jeff Koons statues. Gaga was back, this time in sky-high platforms, a floor-length chocolate alligator jacket and steampunk glasses.
That's when she unveiled the massive white Koons-designed statue with a gazing ball situated right between her legs, which serves as the main focal point of her ARTPOP cover.
