Lady GaGa Teacup Raises £46k For Charity
Poker Face singer's cup fetches a sizeable sum for Japan charity...
A teacup used just once by pop superstar Lady GaGa has fetched an impressive £46,000 at auction.
The cup, which bears Lady G's lipstick and autograph with the phrase 'We pray for Japan', was used by the songstress at a press conference in 2011 shortly after the country was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami.
During the week-long auction, 1,300 bids were placed for GaGa's cup, though the item failed to earn the highest price. That honour went to a crystal piano used by Japanese rock star Yoshiki, which went for £85,000.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards helping young Japanese artists who want to study in the US.
In the wake of the Japan tsunami, GaGa designed a charity wristband that raised $250,000 for the victims of the disaster.
The Bad Romance singer is currently in the Far East for the start of her Born This Way Ball world tour.
