The event will take place in New York City on November 3, and will see the video-sharing website recognise the songs, artists and videos that were most viewed on its channels in the last year.
Actor Jason Schwartzman has been announced as host, while film director Spike Jonze will be the event's creative director.
YouTube is recording performances in Seoul, Brazil, Moscow and London for the event, which will see YouTube celebrate over one billion worldwide users.
