Lady Gaga To Receive Gay Inspiration Award
Pop star set to be recognised for encouraging tolerance...
Lady Gaga is to be presented with an award by a gay organisation to recognise her campaigning work on behalf of young gay people.
She is to receive the Trevor Hero Award at the Trevor Live event, which is being held in Hollywood next month.
Gaga was one of the most high-profile campaigners against the US military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy - and has also been outspoken over the bullying of gay teens.
David McFarland, CEO of the Trevor Project, said: "Our young people are at the centre of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga and technology leaders like Google Inc. have stepped up to help change our culture.
"Our honourees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honour Lady Gaga with the 'Trevor Hero Award' and Google Inc. with the 'Trevor 2020' award for their work to help young people express their true selves with pride."
