Lady Gaga Will Play Cilla Black In The Dionne Warwick Biopic, Apparently
There's a whole lot of confusion going on.
There’s a whole load of kerfuffle going on surrounding Lady Gaga’s potential role in a biopic about Dionne Warwick’s life, with a representative for the singer denying she’s involved while Dionne says she is.
Confused? You will be.
It all started at the super swish film festival in Cannes, where a bunch of Hollywood’s finest are putting on their fanciest outfits and chatting LOADS about the movies we can look forward to in the not-too-distant future.
During a press conference at the festival, Dionne had announced that Lady Gaga would be playing Cilla Black in ‘Warwick’, while former Destiny’s Child singer LeToya Luckett would be playing Dionne herself.
However, Lady Gaga’s representatives later denied her role in the biopic, with Variety reporting that her publicist said: “Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in the project. Reports of Gaga starring in the project are false.”
Variety then spoke to Dionne, who revealed she had spoken to Lady Gaga's manager and insisted: “Actually, it’s just a little glitch. It will be corrected very soon, and everybody who retracted will have to retract again.
“It wasn’t [Lady Gaga] that issued the statement. It was her PR people. It’s like everything else. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. It becomes a problem. When they start talking to each other, it’s going to make a difference.”
Revealing the ‘Pokerface’ singer was yet to sign a contract, Dionne later said Lady Gaga was only involved ‘as far as she knew’, adding: “And if she’s not, somebody else will be. It’s that simple.”
