And stars join the debate on whether it rips off Madonna’s Express Yourself…
Lady GaGa’snew track Born This Way has gone straight to No 1 in 21 countries.
The brand new pop anthem has topped the iTunes chart in the UK and America as well as France, Germany, Spain, Canada, New Zealand and 16 other territories, with more to come no doubt.
The title track from GaGa’s forthcoming album has also become the fastest selling chart-topper in the history of the US iTunes store. Not bad for a track that was only released one day ago!
But Born This Way’s long-awaited unveiling has been tainted by claims that it rips off Madonna’s 1989 hit Express Yourself.
Stars as varied as Paramore singer Hayley Williams and Glee star KevinMcHale have tweeted their opinions on the two tracks’ similarities, but Elton Johnhas jumped to her defence as has good friend Perez Hilton, who stated that similarity to Madge’s hit could only be a good thing: "Express Yourself 2.0 is what people are saying? I'll happily take that!!!"
As for the woman herself, she has admitted that the bigger she gets, the more people want her to mess up. “They want to see me fail. They want to see me fall on stage,” the Bad Romance singer explained. “They want to see me vomiting out of a nightclub. Isn’t that the age we live in?”
