Lady Gaga's ex-manager Troy Carter has revealed he "wasn't prepared" after being sacked by the star.
Mother Monster parted ways with Carter on the eve of the release of her latest album ARTPOP, despite working closely Troy - who is widely credited for her rise to worldwide fame.
Speaking to the Fast Company, Carter explained: "It's like you wake up and you work with somebody every day, and then all of a sudden they're not there anymore.
"I don't think you're ever prepared to sever that deep of a relationship."
Recalling the time he first met Lady G, the music manager revealed: "She walked in with these huge sunglasses on, fishnet stockings, and basically told me how she was going to change the game.
"She was a performance artist calling herself Lady Gaga, who had a European dance-club sound and pop-star aspirations - elements that historically haven't mixed. Def Jam Records had just dropped her. I believed her."
Earlier this month, the Applause singer criticised her team, Haus of Gaga, over the delay of her Do What You Want music video, saying in a statement she felt "gravely mismanaged" and "betrayed".
