Is Lady Leshurr The Next Missy Elliott? Timbaland Reckons So...
We talk the 'Where Are Ya Now?' grime goddess' debut album and a cracking plaudit from one of the biggest producers around...
With her infectious latest single 'Where Are You Now?' killing it at the moment, Brummie MC Lady Leshurr's star is on the rise and we're not the only one's that think so. Super producer Timbaland, who has worked with some of the biggest names in music from Justin Timberlake to Missy Elliott, says he sees what he saw in Missy all those years ago in our Birmingham babe too...
Speaking to MTV recently, the MOBO nominated rapper told she's working with Timbaland on her debut album and what it was like to meet her idol:
"It's exciting, I'm working with some really good producers. I'm working with Timbaland - oh my gosh! - basically I grew up on that guy, he's a legend. His connection with Missy Elliott is next to none. The vibe. Everything. Amazing.
"And one thing which is also another wow factor, he said that he saw Missy Elliott in me when he first heard my songs so that to me is just OH MY GOSH! I just couldn't believe it but it's just amazing to get told that from a legend, that never knew who you were when you were growing up, but you knew who they were, and then you meet them."
Can't see you anywhere
Rude girl, stay over there
Or I'll put you back like hair
Yeah
You are not quite there
Oh well, it's unfair
You'll get air
When I'm in the building, you come out
When I'm onstage, it gets shut down
When I walk in you best look down
Fire alie, gets bun down
Everyone knows I'm the talk of the town
Everyone know when I'm walking in town
Oh my gosh, is that Lesha?
Make them fall to the ground, wow
Where are you now? Cause I can't see ya
Where are you now? I wouldn't wanna be ya
Where are you now? Cause I can't see ya
Where are you now? I wouldn't wanna be ya
Where are you now? Where are you now?
Where are you now? Where are you now?
Where are you now? Where are you now?
I said where are you now? Where are you now?
Where are ya, kid?
I'm like wait, where are you, kid?
You fell off, now your arm is ripped
Attention, army ting
Look, you was on top
Then you just flopped
You thought you was gonna blow up
You was gassed, got popped
Look, you're so late, with it
I said you're so late widit
I'm on top and you're hating it
And you look like 86 years old
I get paid to spit
Heard your stuff, ain't rating it
Wait
Your boyfriend was staring me down
Now he's on my phone like "where are you now?"
Where are you now? Cause

Any time I speak, that's doodoodoodadada
Any time I speak, that's tiger, tiger
Done with the shoulda, coulda, doodoodoodoodadada

Doing this ting since MC Creepin'
Doing this ting ever since Pied Piper
And I know mandem in jail doing 5, doing 10s

Where are you now? Cause I can't see ya
Where are you now? I wouldn't wanna be ya
Where are you now? Cause I can't see ya
Where are you now? I wouldn't wanna be ya
Where are you now? Where are you now?
Where are you now? Where are you now?
Where are you now? Where are you now?
I said where are you now? Where are you now?
I mean
Where are ya, man?
You was on top of your game, son
Now I can't even see ya
You fell off, you have
Where are you now?
Among other UK based producers, the 'Queen's Speech' star said she's "working with Deputy who made Rihanna 'B**ch Better Have My Money'" as well as "Bangladesh who made Lil Wayne 'A Milli'", and now we really can't wait to hear more.
On whether we'll see any features on it, Lesh told us: "there's definitely going to be features but they have to be special. I don't want my album to be full of features - they're not a part of my journey and how I got there, do you know what I mean? There'll only be certain features for specific songs that I know it's like important that they need to be on it, so there's only going to be a few.
"I don't want to drop any names for it yet 'cause I don't wanna jinx it but I should have some special features on there."
