Teenage Girl Raped At Latitude Festival
And Florence and Vampire Weekend among the headliners...
Police are investigating an assault by a group of men against a 19-year-old woman at the Latitude Festivalin Henham Park, Southwold, the Suffolk Constabulary confirmed yesterday. The incident happened around 10pm on Thursday night (15 July).
According to reports, the teenager was looking for the toilets and asked a group of three or four men for directions. They led her away, then raped her.
After the attack, the victim found her way back to her friends and then reported the attack to festival security. A police spokesperson said, “It was very dark at the time of the attack, but the victim believes one of the men may have short dark curly hair”.
The police have appealed for witnesses, and are now trying to identify the suspects using CCTV images. “We are also reminding individuals to be vigilant and are advising groups of friends to stick together and look out for each other.”
The five-year-old festival, held on the estate of the Earl of Stradbroke, is normally known for its friendly, laid-back atmosphere.
