Laura Whitmore has confirmed that she will be leaving MTV News after seven years.

The Irish beauty made the announcement on Instagram, along with a photo of her first day on the job at the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards back in 2008.

She wrote: “After 7 years, I have decided it's time to hang up my MTV News hat.

[related]"It was my very first telly job and I can't thank MTV enough for taking the chance on me. However due to some upcoming projects I can no longer commit."

However, never fear! The blonde babe went on to add that she will still be gracing MTV for various shows, including MTV Asks, MTV EMA and festivals.

Whitmore concluded: “There are some other exciting projects over the next 9 months I will be telling you about when I can.

"In the mean time, next week will be my last news records. It's been a blast!"
