Lauren Bacall was a style icon from her emergence in the 1940s until her final public appearances, before she passed away from a stroke on August 12th 2014, aged 89.

Always impeccably groomed, Bacall was once a department store model and appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 1944, aged just 17. However, it was her off-duty wardrobe that really packed a punch, with Lauren famously favouring chic loose-fitting trousers and tailored jumpsuits over dresses – a rarity at the time.
