Lauren Conrad has nothing to prove as far as we’re concerned, but it seems a rather big coincidence that she’s dyed her hair platinum blonde, right after being labelled ‘basic’ by Allure magazine.

Taking to Instagram to share a selfie of her new look, former The Hills star LC wrote, “Things are getting real blonde around here...”

Her trip to the salon came just days after Lauren called out beauty magazine Allure for typecasting her as “basic” in their latest issue, commenting on her “unremarkable” and “plain” style, which they said she cannot identify herself.

Lauren responded via Twitter, writing, “I definitely just got called a basic b*tch! Haha! Sausage curls!? Really ‪@Allure_magazine?”

The 28-year-old has previously covered Allure three times, but needless to say we think she’ll be avoiding the publication like Spencer Pratt from now on.
