Lauren Conrad, the woman who captured our heart in The Hills, has claimed she was actually locked in a basement during the Speidi wedding.

DRAMATIC, WE KNOW.

The reality star claims she was "throwing a fit" during Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's big day, having well and truly fallen out with them both around the same time.

Now taking the moment to explain what really happened, it turns out there was actually a little bit of kidnapping involved. Kind of.

"I needed to leave by a certain time because my boyfriend (Kyle Howard) was premiering an indie film," she told Us Weekly of the very moment in 2009.

"And the power and generator went out in the church. The producers literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn't let me leave."

She added: "I was throwing a fit."

Where was Stephen Colletti to rescue her, HUH?

Though according to producer Adam DiVello, it wasn't exactly a throw away the key situation.

"She might have felt locked in, but she was not," DiVello explained.

While Spencer has his own somewhat sinister verdict on the story, which we can't be 100% sure wouldn't have ended in murder.

"Had MTV given me the key, all would have been forgiven," he tweeted.
