Lauren Jauregui Makes An Important Point In Her Letter To The LGBTQ+ Community
"Anyone can love anyone..."
Since coming out as bisexual in a powerful open letter to Trump supporters last year, Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui has become more inspiring and outspoken than ever with her love and outreach for the LGBTQ+ community.
So she was a pretty perfect choice to take part in Billboard’s latest project for Gay Pride Month, which sees loads of celebs penning heartfelt ‘love letters’ to the queer community.
Lauren’s personal letter is full of awesome insight, thought provoking discussion and important points about the way LGBTQ+ people are still treated by society even in 2017.
Beginning her open letter, Lauren confessed that as a bisexual Cuban female artist, she was left feeling “questioned, threatened and even invalidated” by the Trump Campaign last year, which in turn lead to her public coming out to fans and the rest of the world.
As well as focusing on the political issues at hand, Lauren also spoke frankly in her letter about her beliefs that, at the end of the day, a person’s sexuality isn’t really anybody else’s business.
“The fascination humanity has with sex and who's engaging in it and what other people do when they engage in it amazes me,” Lauren wrote.
“We spend so much time chastising what other people do in the darkness of their bedrooms that we forget that love is a part of our souls and it can be felt on a grand spectrum of truth.
“Anyone can love anyone and we should all be loving each other, not looking for reasons to segregate and invalidate one another.”
She went on to remind fans that whatever their sexuality, it’s incredibly important that they love themselves and to come to terms with their identity.
“I am even more grateful to live in a generation where there seems to truly be an awakening to the understanding of love,” Lauren added.
“And how much it can heal us all, especially in the youth.”
There aren't enough praise hand emojis in the world for this one. Thanks, Lauren.
