Lenny Kravitz Swaps ‘Hunger Games’ For Funk Hungry Audience At iTunes Festival!

REVIEW: The native New Yorker brings a rock and roll party to The Roundhouse…

Last night (September 26) Lenny Kravitz took to the stage at Camden’s Roundhouse with his classic blend of soul, psychedelia and sensual guitar riffs!

Feeling: With a queue rolling down Chalk Farm Road, anticipation was high for the 90’s melody maker. London based Wolf Alice opened the show with intense guitars, flawless vocals and included a dark cover of Chris Issack’s ‘Wicked Game’.

Once onstage, Kravitz had the crowd in the palm of his hand and clinging onto his every word. Early on, Lenny told us this was the first time his new band had played live but their unmarred performance said otherwise.

[related]The Look: Rock and roll heartbreaker in dark denim, complete with 70’s style scarf and sunglasses. The backing singers sported gold, tartan and foiled pink, bringing a punk and glam rock element to the stylish show.

Tunes: A perfect mix of back catalogue hits such as It Ain’t Over, Til It’s Over, American Woman and Fly Away alongside four tracks from his recently released album, Strut. New track The Chamber brought a disco vibe to the evening and didn’t feel out of place with his classic tunes.

Are You Gonna Go My Way sent the crowd into a dancing frenzy, whilst a 20 minute rendition of Let Love Rule brought arm waving and chanting as Lenny weaved around the crowd.

Summary: Last week marked 25 years since the release of his debut, Let Love Rule, and Lenny shows no signs of slowing down just yet. With a new album out and a hot new band, Kravitz better prepare himself for a swarm of buzzing new fans!
