Men’s Health are on the search for the ‘Ultimate Guy’ who will get to grace their November 2015 cover, and it looks like they may have found him.

Aydian Dowling, a transgender man, has been voted for more than 56,000 times by readers after a picture of him recreating a famous Adam Levine photoshoot went viral in a matter of hours.

The 27-year-old YouTuber had originally taken the picture for FTM magazine, but after the amazing response, entered Men’s Health’s Ultimate Guy Search in hopes of raising awareness for the transgender community.

Now, with Aydian a clear winner amongst readers, it seems that he’s destined to land the prestigious magazine cover.

With thedecision ultimately made by a panel of judges, the Ultimate Guy needs to encompass ‘all of the qualities that make up today’s well rounded, active, health conscious and thoughtful guy’.

Chatting to Buzzfeed about the amazing support he’s had, Aydian revealed: “The goal was to get on the leader board to raise awareness. That was the initial goal: Make a statement, get a trans man on the cover. That was it!

“I made a video about it on my YouTube channel and it just got shared and shared and shared. Within hours of making that video I was number one [on the leaderboard] in the competition.

“I feel like me personally and the transgender community as a whole have the same feelings. It’s bringing visibility, its bringing awareness. I used to be one of those kids that was depressed and didn’t see anyone I could look up to.

“[Getting on the cover] would mean there was this new generation saying, ‘Hey, I can have a happy life, I can be successful, I’m not as weird as I thought I was.’”
