Ms. Portman has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard (yup, Harvard), making her the university’s first alum to bag a Best Actress Oscar. Not bad going. She’s also fluent in Hebrew, French, Arabic, German and Japanese, and has twice been published in scientific journals. Bow down.
The ‘All Of Me’ crooner started playing the piano at only seven years old, but it wasn’t just music that he excelled at. He graduated from high school second in his class, and was offered places at Harvard, Georgetown and Morehouse College, before settling on studying English at Pennsylvania. It was at Penn where he was introduced to Lauryn Hill, and suddenly he was working with Kanye West and bagging gold records.
You may know him as The Hangover’s Mr. Chow (or Chang from Community), but Ken Jeong has a secret second life – as a doctor. A member of the High IQ team at his school, he was elected to student council (and played the violin in the school’s orchestra. He obtained his M.D. degree from the University of North Carolina, and even completed his internal medicine residency, before winning an improv award and moving to L.A. to pursue comedy full-time. Who knew?
Matt was a straight-A student through school and studied English at Harvard University for almost four full years, before making the decision to drop out in 1992 to pursue his acting career in Hollywood. His time at Harvard wasn’t wasted, however, as it was here that Damon wrote the screenplay for Good Will Hunting as an exercise in English class. If only our school work had been Oscar-winning…

Ashton was offered a scholarship to MIT to study engineering, but lost it when he got into trouble with authorities after breaking into his high school. He didn’t let that set-back defer him, however, and decided instead to study biomechanical engineering at the University of Iowa. In his acceptance speech for the Ultimate Choice Award at the 2013 TCA, he reminded fans that “the sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart”.
