A YouTube Video Is Tricking People Into Drilling Holes Into Their iPhone 7s
No, drilling a hole in your phone will not create a headphone jack.
One of the most controversial features of the new iPhone 7 is the fact that it no longer comes with a headphone jack and if you don't want to use Apple's wire-free earphones (that cost over £100), you'll have to buy a headphone adapter that plugs into the charging slot.
However, not everyone is taking this lying down and as a result, a bunch of frankly idiotic people have fallen for a YouTube hoax that claims that by drilling a hole into your shiny new iPhone 7, you can create your very own working headphone jack.
As if we hadn't all learnt a serious lesson from the microwave prank, it seems that people are actually falling for this one thanks to the video doing the rounds on the internet right now.
In the vid someone appears to drill a hole into their phone and then seems to plug in their earphones and listens to music, no problem. Clearly this would in no way work, but from the look of the comments section, a few foolish types did give it a go before realising it was a big old prank.
With the general internet catching onto the video, the comments section on the vid is now a little out of control, meaning that it's hard to tell who is legit and who is being a big old troll and pretending they tried the drilling. Still, it's a fairly hilarious is slightly awful read.
This is why we can't have nice things.
