Disney Performer Dies After Lighting A Firework Off Of His Head

The 22-year-old had been celebrating Independence Day with his friends.

In America, the 4th of July is one of the biggest holidays of the year, and one that typically involves a dangerous combination of fireworks and alcohol.

And sadly, a 22-year-old man has died after a night of celebration with his friends, as he tried to light a firework off of his head.

Devon Staples died instantly after he put a firework mortar tube on his head and set it off.

He had been drinking with friends at a house in Calais, Maine, when the incident took place, but his brother Cody has explained that the whole thing was a ‘freak accident’.

Cody was apparently just feet away from his brother when the incident occurred, and while speaking to the New York Daily News, he told them: “There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there.

"It was a freak accident... but Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid. He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh."

Devon lived in Orlando and previously worked at Disney World as a performer – and a video has now surfaced of him in his role as Gaston from Beauty & The Beast.

Cody revealed that his brother was ‘all about showing people love’, and has asked anyone who wants to pay tribute to him to ‘go out and do something nice for someone’.
