Eddie Redmayne's New Movie Trailer Has Left Us All Emotional
No, you're crying.
It’s official – we’re predicting that Eddie Redmayne will be bagging the best actor Oscar again next year.
We’re not just saying this because we’re crazy Redmayne fangirls (although we definitely are) – the first look trailer at his upcoming movie The Danish Girl has just been released, and boy-oh-boy does it look like it’s going to be an emotional one.
Redmayne plays Einar Wegener, the first ever recipient of male to female sex reassignment surgery, who later became Lili Elbe.
Documenting her struggles with her gender identity, the movie follows Elbe as she attempts to navigate her transition whilst still supporting her illustrator wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander).
Director Tom Hooper has spoken out about what encouraged him to cast Eddie in the role, telling Screen Daily that “I was a great believer in him as an actor. I think also there’s a certain gender fluidity that I sensed in him… I felt that there was something in him that was drawn to the feminine.”
The film is set to be released on January 1st 2016. We can’t wait
