Ginger Emojis Are Finally Here And Redheads Across The World Are Rejoicing

A moment in history.

After what feels like years of campaigning, it looks like redheads across the world are finally getting some representation in emoji form.

The Unicode Consortium – which is responsible for choosing and creating shiny new emoticons – has announced that 157 emojis will be dropping online at some point today.

'Let's get checking out whether a bunch of grown adults can apply false lashes...'

And it’s good news for ginger-haired, bald-headed, and curly-haired people because they can all finally scroll through their iPhone and see themselves reflected in tiny animation form.

Animal lovers willbe happy to hear that a kangaroo, llama, lobster, hippo, parrot, and mosquito are also set to be included in the Emoji 11.0 update alongside some crowd-favourite options like superheroes, cakes, and bagels.

On the downside, it could be months before users can actually include the emojis in their messages, due to the fact that Apple tends to wait until their operating system updates to push new featues through.

Even so, people are thrilled at the fact gingers are now having their moment, with one person tweeting: “Finally they are releasing a ginger/redhead emoji! Representation,” as another said: “Apparently I finally get a ginger emoji tomorrow?! Is this true? Is my life complete?”

The update follows a series ofprogressive emojis being added to the collection including a woman breastfeeding and a woman wearing a headscarf. Representation matters.
