Everything You Need To Know About Apple's iOS 10 Update: Stickers, Emoji Tap And More New Features
iMessage is now sorta like Facebook and Snapchat had a baby together.
iOS 10 is officially here and although the update had a few teething errors when it launched, it's now all sorted and about to change up the way you use your iPhone and Apple devices forever.
Not sure what to expect? Here's the 10 biggest and best changes to make the most of rn.
1. It knows how you emoji
Words are sooo 2015 and to celebrate, Apple have introduced a clever little fix into autocorrect that will suggest emoji alternatives to words you've typed, just in case you are so lazy you can't even be bothered to click into your emoji keyboard.
2. You can now search your photos for 'trends'
You know how your iPhone knows when you take a selfie and puts them all in that handy 'selfie' album? Well, your phone is basically now an even more clever robot and post-update includes a way to search your photos for trends or themes.
For example, type in 'tree' and it should ping back all the artsy photos you've ever taken of trees. You can even teach it who people are, sort of like tagging on Facebook, and it'll recognise them in future photos.
How it does it we have no idea, but the idea is a super clever addition to stop you having to scroll for days just to look for that pic of those really great pancakes you took some time last January.
3. It will transcribe your voicemails
It's a truth universally acknowledged that only the worst type of people actually leave voicemails. Sorry Grandma, you know we love you, but is it really ever necessary to leave a rambling five minute long message when we all know I'll call you back in two minutes anyway?
If you cba to listen you yours, you can get a text version of the voicemail in the Phone App as your phone will automatically transcribe your messages if you tell it too.
4. The way you turn off your alarm is different
This may sound minor but you are going to want to train your brain to this sharpish or you'll accidentally keep pressing snooze and be about 100 hours late for school/work/college.
5. Apple Music is less rubbish
When Apple Music launched, it seemed like a cool idea but quite confusing to use. Now it's been updated to make it more user-friendly, hurrah.
6. You now have Apps in iMessage
iMessage has now got its very own Appstore meaning there are now plenty of apps you can use inside messenger. From sticker packs that explode all over the screen of whoever you send them to, to apps for ordering food and sorting your travel plans, you can now do loads more inside your standard messaging platform.
It's sort of like Facebook messenger had a baby with Snapchat and made Google godmum, which doesn't sound too shabby, does it?
7. Raise to wake
With such busy lives, who actually has the 0.0004 seconds it takes to click the home button to check your notifications? Just kidding, but iOS 10 knows you so well that when you pick up your phone, the acceleration will automatically light up your phone and show your notifications to make checking incoming texts or tweets from celebs so much easier to keep track of at speed.
SO HANDY. Literally.
8. Apple maps have had a major upgrade
Forget downloading extra apps to help you find your way as Apple Maps has finally had a major overhaul to make it about a zillion times more user friendly.
Think re-routing as you go along (or when you go the wrong way, ahem), the ability to zoom in and out while you're moving, scheduling stop offs and a handy feature to find nearest coffee stops and petrol that aren't massively out of your way.
9. The keyboard knows you
And we mean really knows you. It might seem like the biggest change to how you use the iPhone, but the keyboard is now way more intuitive and scans your messages for info so it knows what people are asking you for and will suggest options to help you out.
For example if someone asks you for your email or a phone number, it'll pop up with the address or number as a suggestion just like it would with autocorrect, so you can click it straight in without having to go into contacts and copying it, then going back into your message and pasting it in.
Basically it'll be a major timesaver but as with all of these kind of updates, might take some time to get used to.
10. You can FINALLY delete the stocks app
Let's be real, this is clearly the most important of all as you can finally get rid of the useless apps Apple forced us all to have to free up memory for even more cat videos and One Direction albums. YEY.
