It’s World Book Day And These Awesome Celebrity Book Clubs Have Got Us Reading

We're totally joining all of these

In a world ruled by the internet (totally not complaining) it’s easy to forget the joyous experience that is getting buried in a good old-fashioned book *glasses emoji*. Well, today is World Book Day, a day for encouraging just that and we’re fully behind it. But don’t just take it from us,;here are few awesome celebrity book clubs you can join to help you get inspired and get reading.

Emma Watson

Somehow in between acting and oh, you know, being the UN Goodwill Ambassador and fighting for gender equality on a worldwide scale, Emma has SOMEHOW found time to launch her own online book club. The club, called Our Shared Shelf, focuses on learning about feminism and posts loads of awesome books about equality. Hosted by Goodreads, Emma choses a new book every month to be discussed online among the 100,000 or so readers already signed up. She explained, “There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering! …I want to share what I’m learning and hear your thoughts too.” It’s fully amazing, go sign up!

Zoella

Zoella announced just yesterday that she’s going be partnering up with WH Smith to launch her own book club. As an awesome author herself, Zoe says reading is one of her main passions (along with vlogging of course). Posting on her website about the launch in summer this year she said, “despite spending so much time online and staring at a screen, nothing is quite as special as picking up a new book and getting lost in it. It’s one of the only things I do that doesn’t require wifi, and I love it (and much needed every now and then).” WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS TO START.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese’s book club is a little more informal. Hosted on her social media platforms, she uses the hashtag #RWBookClub to regularly recommend books that she loves to her followers. She’s super-engaged in it and discusses the books with the numerous fans who reply to her recommendations.

Oprah

We couldn’t talk about book clubs without mentioning the queen of book clubs now could we? After nearly two decades, Oprah’s legendary book club came to an end in 2011 when her show ended. BUT NEVER FEAR. Her book club was recently re-launched in internet form via her website. The site features all her recommendations (there are literally too many to ever read) as well as features and celeb recommendations. Wanna know what Jay-Z likes to read? Now you can!

We’re totally joining all of these. YAY READING.
