The Fault In Our Stars Author John Green Announces First New Book In 6 Years

And it's coming very soon.

Forget crunching leaves and drinking pumpkin spice lattes as the only thing you're going to want to do this autumn is curl up on the sofa with YA author John Green's brand new book, which will be his first novel in almost six years.

Called 'Turtles All the Way Down', it's set to hit shelves this October and is John's first release since internationalbestseller 'The Fault in Our Stars.'

It's set to be a pretty personal story for John too and while the story is fictional,it follows a young woman called Aza Holmes, who deals with similar mental health issues to John, who himself has previously spoken out about learning to manage hisanxiety and OCD.

“I've been working on'Turtles All the Way Down'for years, and I’m so excited to share it with readers this October,” John said in the announcement. “This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood, so while the story is fictional, it is also quite personal."

Want to know more? Here's what we know about the plot so far:

'Turtles All the Way Downbegins with a fugitive billionaire and a cash reward. It is about lifelong friendship, the intimacy of an unexpected reunion, Star Wars fan fiction, and tuatara. But at its heart is Aza Holmes, a young woman navigating daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.'

What makes this announcement even more exciting is thatJohn's been pretty open about his battle with a touch of writer's block over the past few years - particularly following the success of 'TFiOS' and 'Paper Towns', and his involvement in the process that took them for page to the cinema screen.

Only last autumn he posted a video to YouTube discussing the pressures of trying to follow up a bestseller. At that point he was unsure whether he'd ever publish another book.

Luckily for us it looks like John has managed to make progress with his writing this year and all we can do is wait for October and re-read JG classics like 'Will Grayson, Will Grayson' and 'Looking For Alaska' while we wait.
