Police Are Urging People To Stop Calling About The KFC Chicken Shortage
Over half of the chain's UK stores have been temporarily closed.
Fast-food lovers are so distressed by the fact KFC are experiencing a chicken shortage that certain people are actually calling 999 to report the situation as an emergency.
The police have now issued a statement insisting that the temporary closure of certain outlets - while upsetting - isn’t “a police matter” and have urged disappointed customers to stop dialling their number and wasting their time.
Let's get checking out an update from MTV News...
The KFC Crisis has seen over half of the chain’s 900 UK stores close across the country due to “operational issues” with delivery business DHL.
Tower Hamlets Metropolitan Police Service tweeted: “Please do not contact us about the #KFCCrisis - it is not a police matter if your favourite eatery is not serving the menu that you desire.”
KFC have insisted they’re doing everything they can to get Toasted Twister’s back on the menu, writing: “We anticipate the number of closures will reduce today [Tuesday] and over the coming days as our teams work flat-out all hours to clear the backlog.
“Each day more deliveries are being made. However, we expect the disruption to some restaurants to continue over the remainder of the week, meaning some will be closed and others operating with a reduced menu or shortened hours.”
DHL have promised that normal service levels will return “as soon as possible” and KFC have reacted to the crisis by setting up an online service that points customers to their nearest open branch.
