Ruby Rose Stands Up For J-Law In New Interview With The Cut
She also spent New Years in a Drake dance off with Taylor Swift.
Earlier this week Jennifer Lawrence was met with some criticism when she described her style as “slutty power lesbian” as a part of her Glamour cover shoot (she also made some awesome comments about the gender pay gap and the need for Planned Parenthood, by the way).
“I hadn’t heard that quote until you just told me now. But what I do know is that Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress and an amazing advocate for women and women’s empowerment and the wage gap in Hollywood and so many amazing things.”
“I think that is an easy quote to misinterpret or to pick apart. But I know that she has an amazing sense of humor, and for her to say that, I know that would never come from a bad place."
Jennifer has always had a pretty dry sense of humour and has done so much for women’s rights that we’re not ready to write her off after one perhaps slightly poorly chosen phrase.
A big advocate for gender fluidity, Ruby also spoke in the interview about the rise of unisex fashion (did we all see Jaden Smith’s amazing LV womenswear shoot?)
“For me, I’m more in awe of the fact that I know what this means in a larger perspective”, she said. “To be able to make this huge impact on what was really a huge transgender and gender-fluidity movement last year is really going to be for the greater good of society because it’s going to let people know they’re not different in a weird way; they’re different in a way that should be celebrated.”
As if all this wasn’t enough awesomeness for one interview, Ruby also revealed that she rang in the New Year having a dance-off to Drake with Taylor Swift, which sounds like the greatest thing to ever have happened. Ruby Rose, you are our hero.
