Avocado on toast might have been the most popular type of food photo on Instagram in 2015 but it's about to replaced by a strange yet equally photogenic use of the humble superfood: shaved avocado.

If that statement has you about five seconds away from sending for helpthen hear us out as strange as it may sound, a shaved avocado might just be the thing that's going to get you ALLof the likes in 2016.

Apparently mashing your avo up and shoving it on toast is no longer going to cut it and in a world where people photoshop their selfies, food bloggers are also taking things to the next level to make their avocado look even prettier on their Insta feeds.

Similar to a sprinkling of sesame seeds or some delicately grated parmesan, the folk over atFood Deco have started shaving their avocados into some seriously amazing looking strips, even going as far as to arrange theminto gracefulcurls that are then artfully arranged on their dinner.

While this might seem like quite a lot of effort for something you're essentially going to look at for a whole 30 seconds before shoving it straight inyour gob, there's no denying it ups your Instagram game about 45 levels simply by the fact it's managed to make avocado look even prettier than ever before.

The Instagram world is of course totally loving it and if you want to get ahead of the game, you might want to bow to this foodie trend sooner rather than later.

Still, life really is weird sometimes.
