Thanks To The Gender Pay Gap, Women Are Basically Working For Free From Today
Mind The Pay Gap.
How would you feel if your boss told you that you’d be getting a salary of zero from now until January 1st? Imagine that. You had to turn up at the same time as usual, and do all the same work, but you’d be paid absolutely nothing for the rest of the year.
Sounds like a crazy idea, right? It’s actually not all that ridiculous. In Britain, it’s basically happening.
Today (November 9th) is Equal Pay Day in the UK – the day where the pay gap between men and women means that ladies are effectively working for free for the rest of 2015.
It’s all worked out using official stats on hourly pay, and it shows that on average, the pay gap for full time workers is 14.2%.
Last year’s was 15.7%, so although things are improving, they’re only improving by 1.5%, which really isn’t all that much.
