You might want to have a bag or two of snacks ready while you’re reading this story of a blogger who is living our total DREAM of travelling the world and indulging in some of the most delicious street food it has to offer.

Meanwhile, we found a mouldy piece of cheese in the bagel we brought for lunch today, so who's really winning here?

Melissa Hie runs the amazing, inspirational and slightly addictive Instagram account ‘@girleatworld’, which documents her culinary journey around the world.

Putting an awesome twist on just sharing photos of what she's eating, Melissa positions each delicacy against a backdrop of where in the world she's eating said food.

Pretty cool, huh?

Explaining how the whole thing started, Melissa, who tries to visit one new place every year, wrote on her blog: “Growing up, I moved around quite a bit with family and school. I did a little bit of exploring but I was not a traveler.

"Despite this,I moved to Singapore in 2009by myselfwithout knowing a single person. I wasn’t an adventurous person back thenandmoving to a new country alone was admittedly a challenging experience for me. Slowly though, I’ve learned to love Singapore and have found my own place and friends here.”

It was after a short Thailand trip in 2010 that she discovered her ‘love for being on the road’ and how to travel cheap, which led to her first backpacking trip to Europe in 2013 - and the rest, as they say, is history.

She wrote: “I didn’t feel like asking strangers to take pictures of me and I’m not too fond of selfies, but I AM always eating so I took pictures of food at whatever memorable site I was in. Then I posted these pictures to my personal Facebook where I received positive feedback from friends so I kept on takingone at every city I visited, for my own personal amusement.”

After visiting Japan in May 2014, and thanks to her friend’s persuasion, she finally set up an Instagram account for her food pictures - enter Girl Eat World, an accountthat's quickly grown into somethingseriously awesome.
