Having Acne In Your Teens Is Actually A Good Thing And Here's Why
This is wonderful, wonderful news.
Acne or bad skin getting you down? Don't fret, because you're actually one of those illusive humans who holds the secret to long-lasting youthfulness.
Yep, acne-cursed teens rejoice! New research suggests that people with spots are much more likely to have younger-looking skin when they get older.
Scientists have found that acne-sufferers' cells actually have built-in protection against ageing. Basically, you're less likely to get wrinkles and thinning skin later on in life and it's all because having oilier skin means that the elasticity of your skin is better. Is like you have a natural, in-built moisturiser without having to slap it on every morning and night.
The study which was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology focused on over 1200 twins, a quarter of which had acne, and the scientists managed to find the exact reason why - the quarter with acne had longer protective 'caps' on the ends of their chromosomes.
This basically means that they prevent your chromosomes from deteriorating over time, which will make all your friends jealous of your youthful appearance later on in life.
So, you've got the last laugh. RES-ULT.
