These Awesome People Are Shutting Down The Latest Body-Shaming Challenge Early

It's all about A4 paper...

Hey, remember the ‘thigh gap challenge’? Or the ‘bikini bridge challenge’? Remember how horrible they were? Well, there’s a new one, hurray. NO.

The latest horrible body-shaming challenge doing the rounds on social media originated in China and is called the A4 Waist Challenge. If you haven’t heard of it just click away now and avoid at all costs :) If you have, stay right here and let’s take a look at how ridiculous it is, shall we?

Originally shared on Chinese social media apps like Weibo and WeChat but now starting to spill over onto more worldwide platforms like Twitter and Instagram the A4 Waist Challenge involves holding a piece of A4 paper over your waist (portrait) to show how ‘paper thin’ you are, and it’s terrible.

Since the start of the challenge, #A4Waist has millions of posts on Weibo and is already spreading outside of China. Fortunately loads of awesome people are populating the hashtag with their own pictures to encourage people that there is no such thing as an “ideal” body size and basically that body-shaming internet crazes like this need to just go away already.

Some people are suggesting the paper should be turned the other way

Or made much bigger.

Or, ya know, just done away with altogether!

This dog is also having none of it.

So yeah, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS, IT IS NOT A THING. Let’s put a stop to this one nice and early on shall we?
